Today Bigfork’s residence population is approximately
1400. Over the years there has been really only small changes
to the area until the 1980s when Montana first became known as “The
Last Best Place”. Then came “Eagle Bend Golf Course” with
design assistance and numerous visits from golf legend Jack Nicklaus.
Bigfork is now expanding itself to some of the outer lying areas
where it will be allowed to grow both residentially and commercially.
There is no doubt that it will never change it’s original
design and attraction of it’s current downtown area. Even
with the newer development, much attention and care is going
into the design to keep it’s western appeal.
There are numerous homes in the area offering everything from
extreme privacy on some acreage, to your typical neighborhood.
Many of them, if they don’t have frontage on Flathead Lake,
offer wonderful views of the lake. There is also the beautiful
Swan River which is very nearby and offers a great opportunity

luxury home. The Swan River is a shallow river which offers you
the ability to not only to do some great fly fishing, but to
also sit back and enjoy the sounds as it rushes by.

variety of animal you could imagine. There are huge Mule deer,
quick and very smart Whitetail deer, monster Elk, Bear, and birds
of all types including Turkey. Truly and outdoor sportsman’s
paradise! You can see many of these animals on a daily basis
as you are commuting from place to another. Just be careful that
you don’t run into any of them, as their size will do some
serious damage to your vehicle. Even if you don’t enjoy
hunting them, they are just fun to see and sit back and watch
or photograph.
