Gateway to Glacier National Park
Columbia Falls, Montana is an area that is also known as the “Gateway
to Glacier National Park”. It is a pretty small
community of approximately 3700 people located just 18 miles
south of Glacier National Park’s west entrance. There are
a number of areas to park your motor homes or campers while visiting
the park, or it makes for a great place to go to in your spare
time if you are a year around resident. The beauty of the lakes,
the glaciers, and the magnificent mountains are a site to behold.
It is not uncommon to see any number of species of wildlife to
include deer, elk, bighorn sheep, and bears.
Small town atmosphere and sense of community
Columbia Falls is primarily an industrial town and really the
only one in the Flathead. There is Columbia Falls Aluminum Company
and Plum Creek Timber Company and Stoltze Land and Lumber. These
two lumber companies supply the area with much of the needed
materials used to keep up with our continued growth and employ
a number of our local residence. The area
maintains the small town atmosphere and sense of community that has become the backbone
of the community for many years.
During the Spring and Summer Columbia Falls offers a number
of outdoor activities to include some great fishing in the Flathead
River and very fine golfing at Meadow Lake Resort. There are
a number of areas to take advantage of for hiking and biking.
Between Columbia Falls and west Glacier there are a number of
attractions to include a water park with huge water slides for
all ages. There are a number of places offering go carts, miniature
golf and more for you and the kids. There are even some natural
wonders for you to investigate including the House of Mystery,
which is said to be one of very few natural “Vortexs” where
the trees even grow sideways or have large natural bows in them.
Columbia Falls mission is to foster a community that appeals
to individuals, families, businesses, and investors. Columbia
Falls is a city that encourages individual rights and responsibilities,
promotes aesthetics and recreation, and provides safety and security.
By listening to it’s citizens and responding to their needs,
by respecting diversity and differences of opinion, and by evaluating
the status quo and practicing thoughtful planning, the city provides
excellent value at a reasonable cost.
Close to airport, ski resorts, golf and winter and summer
recreational opportunities
Columbia Falls is relatively close to Glacier International
Airport, only 16 miles from Big Mountain Ski Resort, has 2 public
golf courses, and an extensive number of trails for snowmobiling
and cross country skiing. You don’t have to go far at all
to be in the heart of some of the best fishing and hunting around.
It is a small town that offers more than you would really imagine
and is in close proximity to anything else that you might want
or need.
